What's Coming in December

You probably know by now that a major update involving Pandala will be released later this year! While waiting for the beta, we'll tell you more in this article.

Pandala Revamp

Much of Pandala will be transformed in the update: mainly the villages of Akwadala, Terrdala, Feudala, and Aerdala. These zones will be spread over levels 150–200 and will offer new quests, achievements, resources, equipment, monsters, dungeons, and more…

Besides these zones' levels, this entire revamp will be different from the one that was done in DOFUS.

You'll be able to get a new Dofus – the Domakuro – through its quests. It will grant the following bonuses:

Fixed bonus:

  • +40 Critical damage

Passive bonus (shield-type):

  • Damage suffered in close combat increases the caster's ranged damage by 2% for 3 turns.
  • Damage suffered from a distance increases the caster's close-combat damage by 2% for 3 turns.
  • Can be stacked 5 times.

You'll also be able to craft a new set for each zone.

Calligraphy

A new feature – Calligraphy – can be found in the game; it is being made available for the first time with the new Pandala quests. It involves drawing certain shapes on the screen in a special interface so you can interact with Pandala Island in a unique way.

It's a new way for players themselves to perform actions that will have an impact on the World of Twelve!

Equipment

Aside from the sets available in Pandala, other equipment is also being added via Ascension Island:

  • the level-164 Nagate's Tear amulet,
  • the level-175 Roasty Breadstick,
  • the level-182 Firefoux Spitfire backpack,
  • the level-200 Hanshi Staff,
  • the level-200 Shihan Fans daggers,
  • and the level-200 Fugitive Set.

In addition, most level-50–100 equipment, sets, and weapons will be reworked to continue this project we started in June 2020.

Finally, around 30 level-180–200 weapons will be rebalanced, and some of their recipes will be reworked.

Change to Frigost Monsters

In Frigost, monsters display a level that is different from their "real" level. For example, a level-160–170 monster family will display levels 190–210, but they will have stats from their original level, creating a degree of inconsistency in the game. We wanted to modify this system to display the real level.

For many monsters, this also results in increasing or decreasing the experienced earned, drop rates, and some of their characteristics.

There are many other new things and improvements in store for you in this update! Check out the beta in the coming days to find out more.

The Beta is Coming Soon!

The beta for the next major update, currently set for December, will be arriving in the next few days! In the meantime, we'd like to tell you a bit more about it, and about how a beta phase works.
DOFUS Touch Beta

SPANISH

What is a beta?

The beta phase allows players to test updates before they're rolled out, so they can give us their views on in-game developments and help us identify any shortcomings.

This phase is a chance for us to fine-tune and improve how upcoming updates work by performing large-scale tests involving hundreds of players at once. These tests complement the ones we perform internally.

How can I participate in the beta?

The DOFUS Touch beta is available through a separate application called "DOFUS Touch Early", which you can find on the App Store and the Google Play Store (via this link). Once you've got the app, just use your usual username and password to log in.

  • Characters are imported from the DOFUS Touch app at different times throughout the year. So don't be surprised if your character in the beta doesn't have their latest equipment, kamas, etc.!
  • Actions you take in the beta phase will have no impact on the regular application or servers.
  • Our team reserves the right to reset the server at any time.

As you've probably guessed by now, we don't recommend playing this version of the game outside of the test periods!

How do I give feedback?

Test Instructions

When the team provides no specific test instructions, we encourage players to test a beta version using two different methods:

  • Read the changelog and test the listed changes.
  • Test the content and features that are not directly affected by the changes in the changelog, to confirm that the update hasn't caused any unexpected side effects.

To help facilitate testing, a NPC is located at the Amakna Village Zaap at [-2,0]. Talk to this NPC to buy various items associated with the update currently being tested.

Communication with Staff

Players can communicate with each other and with the DOFUS Touch team via two platforms:

The forum is generally preferable because it's easier to track discussions there over time.

When's the next beta phase, and what's it about?

We'll get back to you about that in just a few days… ;)

DOFUS Touch Pandala Beta

For more information about using the beta, please read this article.

It is necessary to update DOFUS Touch Early in your app store (particularly iOS) for the fixes to be reflected.

A New Era for Pandala

Pandala Island has been fully updated, except for Nolifis Island.

The changes include:

  • Updated levels for each area, from level 160 to 200
  • New monster families
  • New dungeons and bosses
  • New resources
  • New sets: the Kwapa Set, the Tanuki Set, the Firefoux Set, and the Kozaru Set
  • A new Dofus: the Domakuro, obtained after completing the new quests
  • New quests
  • New achievements
  • New maps
  • New music

Please note that there is no longer a village connected to the Alliance versus Alliance system in this area.

This revamp also required us to tweak certain existing content, including:

  • Old achievements have been removed, along with the points earned from them. This measure is necessary as players who have never completed these achievements will no longer have access to them. If you end up below the required minimum, this won't invalidate achievements you've already completed. That said, Pandala offers more achievement points than before.
    • In order to reward players who have completed the old Pandala achievements, two new titles will be available in the coming days: one for those who have completed all the dungeons in the area before the update and one for those who have completed the achievements related to these dungeons (on production servers and not on beta). Two achievements will be added to distribute these titles to qualifying players (retroactive). It is a must to log-in before the update to benefit from it. Once this has passed, it will no longer be possible to obtain these titles.
  • The quest providing access to the island, as well as the main quest (up to Wabbit Island), have been updated.
  • Older homes are still around, but they have been moved and graphically updated.
  • Pets and petsmounts connected to the old Pandala have been modified as a result. See details about what to feed them, their hormones, and their favorite areas in the encyclopedia found on the official website. This applies to the following creatures: Peki Peki, Little White Bow Meow, Ghast, Leopardo, Minifoux, Pandawa Cub, Boarhog, Razorbuck, Bulbutting, Measured Boon, Paunchy Boon, Boonax, Measured Godron, Icky Godron, Raccoon, and Mischievous Squirrel.
  • The old monsters in this area, along with associated resources, have been removed. Affected recipes and quests have been tweaked accordingly. A list of the resources removed is available here.
  • The old archmonsters in this area have been eliminated and are no longer required for the Ochre Dofus quest.
  • The Daggero, Peki Peki and Bulbig Brotha bosses are no longer available. Tanukouï San has been replaced by a boss of the same name in the new dungeon in Terrdala. The Pandora Master, meanwhile, is now part of a new quest.
  • The spell "Soul Capture" is now obtained through a new quest in Pandala, or by doing the new Kwakwa's Nest dungeon.
  • Certain wanted monsters have been relocated: Marzwel the Goblin in the Koalaks' Enchanted Lakes; Aermyne in the Cania Forest; Rok Gnorok in the Minerock Plains; Zatoishwan in the Bwork Outpost; and Musha the Oni in the Deep Moon Jungle.
  • A boat has been added to the new Osakwa Harbour for accessing Nolifis Island and Madrestam Harbour.
  • The Rokwa Headband is now a ceremonial item; this is a retroactive change.
  • Several Almanax have been changed as follows:
    • January 19: Experience earned from monsters of the Undried family has increased by 75%.
    • February 5: The chance of loot dropping in the Astrub Rocky Inlet area has increased by 125%.
    • March 7: Experience earned in the Wind Dojo has increased by 125%.
    • March 30: The chance of loot dropping from Moors monsters has increased by 75%.
    • April 20: Experience earned from monsters in Feudala has increased by 100%.
  • The following breeding items are no longer in the game:
    • Bambooto Slapper
    • Bambooto Manger
    • Bambooto Drinking Trough
    • Bambooto Lightning Thrower
    • Bambooto Plank
    • Holy Bambooto Manger
    • Holy Bambooto Drinking Trough
    • Holy Bambooto Slapper
    • Holy Bambooto Lightning Thrower

Calligraphy

A new feature is available in the game: calligraphy. It is being made available for the first time with the new Pandala quests. It involves drawing certain shapes on the screen in a special interface so you can interact with Pandala Island in a unique way.

It's a new way for players to perform actions that will have an impact on the outcome of certain quests!

This feature is unlocked during the quest line in Pandala.

Will you be able to solve all the puzzles?

Equipment

Ascension Island

New equipment is available using the resources offered by the Ascension Island merchant:

  • The level-164 Nagate's Tear amulet
  • The level-175 Roasty Breadstick
  • The level-182 Firefoux Spitfire backpack
  • The level-200 Hanshi Staff
  • The level-200 Shihan Fans daggers
  • The level-200 Fugitive Set

Changes to Level 50-100 Equipment

Most equipment, sets, and weapons from level 50 to 100 have been reworked to continue this project we started in June 2020.

This includes changes to characteristics, usually an increase, as well as to recipes. These changes are not retroactive and will only affect weapons crafted after the update.

Please note that the following equipment can no longer be obtained from monsters, but they can be crafted:

  • Yench Cutting Sword
  • Pretty Blade
  • Crocoburio's Spirit

Weapon Balancing

Around 30 weapons between level 180 and 200 have been rebalanced, and some of their recipes have been reworked as well. This time, changes are retroactive and based on the weapons' usage ratio, as well as, and more importantly, weapons' current power, whether too weak or too powerful.

  • Undergrowth Set: there is now an AP bonus when 3 items are equipped.
  • Funguset: there is now an MP bonus when 3 items are equipped.
  • Initiative pets now have a maximum bonus of 2000. It is now necessary to feed them again to reach this. This applies to the Little White Bow Meow, Homlett, Bontarian Tofu, and Maulleycat pets. The Mouselet pet's maximum Initiative will also increase.
  • The Awakening Shield has been added to the Shariva Merchant located at the Trading Counter at [5,3].
  • Certain equipment recipes required several other pieces of equipment, which would prevent crafting as it was impossible to stack these pieces of equipment in the interface. These recipes have been adjusted to correct this issue.

Changes to Frigost Monsters

In Frigost, monsters display a level that is different from their "true" level. For example, a monster family of level 160 to 170 will display levels 190 to 210, but their stats will be for their original level, creating a degree of inconsistency in the game. We wanted to modify this system to display the true level.

Pandala Transformed - Part 2

$

Hidden away in the heights of Aerdala, the Kozaru are children of the wind. Living reclusively among the crags and peaks of the region, these little-known people keep to themselves, and only rarely reveal themselves to the island's other inhabitants. But Pandala's transformation has reawakened old conflicts, and the Kozaru are no longer protected by the shadows of their mountains.
Pandala Transformed 2 DOFUS Touch

The storm has been raging for days. The floodwaters surge relentlessly, despite my prayers. Lightning splits the rock and reignites the drenched embers. The woods blaze and splinter as the torrent swirls. Pandala has been transformed into a vast inferno, an endless tempest that is reshaping the island's contours, its cliffs and its lakes. The earth shatters and cracks as immense waves crash against the rock, giving way to new lands, new boundaries, new landscapes. Pandala is being transformed, and it will never be the same.

The cave shudders and flashes to the irregular rhythm of the lightning. The ground is wet, and a cold wind blasts the rock walls in harsh gusts. The rain lashes my face and colors the ground a shimmering blue. Across from me, I can make out the contours of a stone Kozaru, a giant carved into the walls of the cave. His smile is permanently frozen in an expression of knowing provocation, and the flickering candlelight bends the shadows and distorts his face into terrible grimaces.

As my eyes contemplate the massive statue before me, I discern a quiet silhouette approaching from behind. I sense each of his movements. His eyes on the back of my neck, the tenderness in his body language, and the dwindling distance between our bodies. My voice resounds in the cave:

"Don't leave. Stay with me. With your people."

I hear his breath and, as though his pain were reaching out to touch me, an icy shock runs through my body, and delicately lifts the fabric of my yukata. The ribbons in my hair begin to move. Caught up in the swirling wind, they slide over my face.

I feel his strong hand on my shoulder. I could falter at any moment. I could push him into the void, then pull him back an instant later. Tell him all the unspoken words of love, curse him a thousand times, or capture him in an eternal embrace so that he can never leave me again. I remain motionless, my eyes riveted on the candles as they struggle to resist the gusts of wind surging into the cave. The tempest eases, and his voice breaks this moment of silence. It cuts sharp and clean, a blade plunged deep into my flesh.

"I have no home here, you heard it yourself. Shihan doesn't want me here."

"She'll change her mind, she'll listen to me!"
"Shihan doesn't listen to anyone."
"You can't…"

A flash of lightning cuts my reply short. My tears flow, leaving marbled tracks on my smooth face. He pretends not to see them, not to hear my sobs. But he sees my trembling shoulders, the uncontrolled shaking that my body no longer has the strength to resist. I raise my eyes once again to the immense statue in front of me. Its stone eyes judge me, seize hold of me. Its smile, carved into the cold rock, dares me to look away. I do not.

"So what will you do?"

My voice cracks. I no longer recognize it.

"We've already talked about that."

Yes, dozens of times… hundreds of times. But I cannot accept it. The mere thought of losing him is the worst kind of suffering… Actually experiencing it would be the death of me.

I turn around abruptly, and force him to face my tears. He holds my stare, and in his eyes I see all the things he can't say aloud. He reaches out for my hand, blindly, across the distance that separates us. I do not help him, letting him fumble for the touch of my skin under the thick fabric of my sleeve. When his fingers finally brush against mine, I instantly grab hold of his armor. My nails screech on the cold metal. I tighten my grip on the armor, as though I could break his solid shell with my bare hands.

"If you leave, I swear I'll throw myself from the highest mountain in Aerdala! I'll curse your name for all eternity!"

A shadow hides his expression. He lifts his gaze to the statue, and I have the feeling that I've already lost him. The two Kozaru, one made of stone, the other of flesh, lock eyes in a fierce clash. I know that this silent confrontation could last forever. My eyes try to recapture his attention, to ease his torment. Hate darkens his face, and brings a flash of crimson to his pupils. Finally, he bows his head, defeated in this silent battle.

He had won, but his opponent had turned his defeat into a victory of its own.

"I am already cursed…"

He raises his other hand, on which he wears no glove. There's no need for one. For there is no more flesh on its bones. The bare cartilage cracks, and his skeletal fingers gently touch my face and brush my cheek. He traces my lips, and caresses my mouth with a strange modesty. I would like to seize his hand and feel the warmth of his skin on my own. To hold his hand tightly and press myself against him, to feel his heart beating, pounding against his chest. But I cannot.

I release my grip, and my hands fall limp at my sides. I stand there looking at him, powerless, my features contorted by a mixture of anger and sadness. I cannot imagine what will happen next. Can life go on after this? Can life really go on after this cataclysm that has struck both Pandala and my own heart? How can anyone recover from such utter devastation?

His eyes turn to me one last time, and I realize that the battle is over. That I have lost this long struggle. That I have lost him, and that there's no going back. He walks past me and approaches the statue, but does not look at it. He picks up his saber and the rest of his armor.

I tremble with cold and fear. I don't know what to do, what threats to use to keep him from leaving. I look at the man I have loved my whole life. From our childish teasing, to our mad runs through Pandala's highest peaks, to our last kiss.

"They'll never accept you there! You're a Kozaru, you were born in the skies of Aerdala to live freely and breathe the winds of high places! Not to become the Daimya's little Bow Wow!"

I close my eyes and burst into tears. I feel my body faltering from the pain. I could implode right here, right now, tear myself to pieces and disappear in the torrents that are shaking the land. His lips touch my forehead. My sobbing ceases. I keep my eyes closed and try, in vain, to remember the warmth of his kiss. His steps echo to the mouth of the cave. The pounding rain, the metallic sounds of his armor… it all disappears into the roar of the storm.

It will soothe you as much as stimulate you. It is the calm before the storm. It is abundance and frugality at the same time. Featuring an image of the ink dragon and the paper dragon, the Pandala Kwismas Pack is the perfect combination of opposites… The first 80 orders will receive a free shikishi* signed by the DOFUS team!

Let's be honest – Kwismas and the Clockwork Ball aren't always a picnic… Between hunting down presents, arranging dinner, and running back and forth to visit cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles, the holiday season often leaves you as morose and sickly as a Vampyre!

For Kwismas time this year, we're offering the unthinkable. Hold on to your Boowolf thong, because you're in for a shock: What would you say to a relaxing holiday season…? No, you're not dreaming. No, we haven't been drinking too much fermented bamboo milk. And our brains aren't foggy from the vapor fumes in Feudala either. Although, to be truthful, our last trip to Pandala and our brief spiritual retreat to the statue of the Grand Puddah probably had an effect on us…

This year, the Kwismas Pack is turning Pandalan! Who better than the masters of thought and meditation to spread wisdom? For €49.99, this pack contains:

  • A Pandala bento box made in partnership with Monbento (value: €39.99)
  • A 75-cl bottle of the Limo d'Grobe soft drink** (value: €4.50)
  • An extra-large mousepad featuring the ink dragon and paper dragon (value: €7.90)
  • A free Pandana (Pandala-style neckwarmer)
  • An early-access Pandauge pet for DOFUS and DOFUS Touch (value: €5)
  • An early-access Kwismas bedroom set for WAKFU (value: €3)
  • Plus a 6,000-ogrine card, valid in DOFUS and WAKFU!

And as a bonus, the first 80 orders will receive a free shikishi*** signed by the DOFUS team!

Weapon Balancing

Around 30 weapons between level 180 and 200 have been rebalanced, and some of their recipes have been reworked as well. This time, changes are retroactive and based on the weapons' usage ratio, as well as, and more importantly, weapons' current power, whether too weak or too powerful.

For several monsters, this has also resulted in increasing or decreasing the experienced earned, drop rates, and some of their characteristics.

Here is a detailed list of the changes.
  • Frigost Village monsters: area's average level to 80
    • Crabeye: level 80 to 88; experience and HP increased

    • Steam Crackler: level 153 to 161; experience and HP reduced
    • Fumaroller: level 149 to 157; experience and HP reduced
    • Mofette: level 156 to 164; experience and HP reduced

From today until December 28, put how you feel about the goddess Pandawa into poetry to try to win some great prizes!

After the Pandala revamp, it seemed obvious that we needed to honor Pandawa with a new writing contest! And not just any kind of writing – it's time to say it with haiku.

If you have the soul of a poet, now is the time to show us your talent!

What's a haiku?

A haiku is a short poem that can give pride of place to all kinds of things. For this contest, your haiku must follow very specific rules! It can only have three lines and 17 syllables in total.

  • The first line must have 5 syllables.
  • The second line must have 7 syllables.
  • The third line must have 5 syllables.

Here's an example of a haiku from one of our poetic game designers:

A star awakens,
Caressed by a memory,
Bow Meow purring.

Contest Concept

In addition to the rules above, your poem must also honor the goddess Pandawa and comply with the forum rules.

From now through Monday, December 28, at 12:00 PM (Paris time), you can post your entry in the comments of this article.

Only one entry is allowed per person.

Prizes

Two winners will be chosen. Our team will choose their favorite haiku, and another haiku will be drawn at random from among all the participants. Winners will receive:

  • 10 sharivakens (more info)
  • 5,000 goultines
  • the "Write" emote

Poetic friends, it's time to get out your pens!
