Following the recent events concerning the technical issue with Dodge server and the exploitation of the Grommit monster by some players, we would like to make a point which concerns the handling of loopholes, bugs or errors in DOFUS Touch.
What is a loophole or a bug?
A loophole or a bug is a programming error that can be exploited for malicious purposes to gain leverage in the game.
The exploitation of a loophole or a bug is prohibited by our Terms of Use, which you have accepted before starting your adventure on DOFUS Touch:
5.3.7 You agree not to use loopholes, bugs or any other type of error to obtain advantages in-game (including, but not limited to, gaining experience, gaining items, gaining time, bypassing restrictions, duplicating items or kamas), nor to promote the use of these. Similarly, you undertake to immediately notify Ankama's Support when you notice a loophole or error in the Games.
What to do when you have discovered a loophole or a bug?
Report the problem to our team
The sooner our staff is informed, the faster we can contain the bug. Players who will report major loopholes or bugs, and which can for example avoid a major consequence such as a rollback (restoring the state of the game to the last stable backup of the server) will be rewarded with an exclusive title in-game. This does not concern the reports of minor bugs.
You can report the problem to our teams via:
- The official forum
- Social Media: Twitter or Facebook
- The official DOFUS Touch Discord
- The Customer Support page
Do not hesitate to do so on all of these media if the bug is really critical!
Do nothing
Not reporting the problem is taking the risk that other players will abuse it and commit irreversible damage. As a repercussion, your inaction could cause a rollback that will affect you too.
Exploit the loophole or bug
You risk both the banning of your Ankama accounts and a possible rollback for all servers. The ban can vary from a few days to a permanent ban. In other words, you really have nothing to gain in abusing a loophole or bug.
When will these sanctions be in place?
They are already in place! The first sanctions following the exploitation of Groomit were applied recently, namely a 15 day ban. Some players have taken advantage of a loophole with this monster in order to increase the level of their guilds in an abnormally fast way. Last 7 June, due to a technical issue with Dodge server, players had the means to ban other players.
We believe that these abusive players fall within the framework indicated by the TOU, namely: "You agree not to use loopholes, bugs or any other type of error to obtain advantages in-game". As a result their accounts have been sanctioned.
